Remembering Coach Jud Keim: A Legacy of Heart, Leadership & Growth

We pause today to honor one of the legends: Our head coach, Coach Jud Keim, a Northwest football stalwart and longtime head coach for the Marcus Trufant Football Camp and mentor whose reach went far beyond the gridiron. Coach Keim passed away recently, surrounded by family, friends, and the many people he touched.

His work and life embody so much of what our camps are all about: hard work, excellence, integrity, mentoring, and pushing every young athlete to become their very best.

Coach Keim served for more than 30 years, and during that period he held positions that touched so many lives. Nobody knew PLU as much as Coach Jud did. He was extremely proud of his alma matra, not only as a coach but as a student-athlete who competed in two sports.

What He Meant to Us at Sports International Football Camps

Coach Jud was a people person, not just a player person, but a young adult person. He learned life through football: being resilient, believing in oneself, the value of working as a team, how attitude on the practice field and off the field is equal to executing a game. He demanded excellence on every corner: preparation, effort, and sportsmanship. That motivation always stemmed from believing in our campers, believing that they could get better, that they could grow.

One of his finest qualities was bringing people together: teammates encouraging each other, coaches encouraging players, and seasoned campers mentoring junior campers. He loved to see someone shine because others around him had been a part of it.

As we mourn the loss of Coach Keim, it’s also a time for us to vow to continue what he taught us, so his legacy continues to move forward.

To the Keim family, thanks. Thanks for allowing us to have him. His legacy will not only live on in stories, but in the way we show up: on the field, in the huddle, in life. Ready Ready!
