PLAYER PROFILE:
Jay Alford is a former defensive tackle of the New York Giants in the National Football League. Jay grew up in New Jersey and was one of the best high school recruits in the country as a senior and was listed as one of the best 50 defensive recruits in the country! He committed to Penn State where he became a dominant force! He was a 4-year starter for the Nittany Lions and played in 46 total games at Penn State. In his collegiate career, he recorded 118 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 19 sacks! He was also named an All-Big Ten selection as a junior and senior. After graduating from Penn State, Jay declared for the 2007 NFL Draft and was selected in the 3rd round by his hometown team, the New York Giants! As a Rookie in 2007, Jay played in all 16 games for the Giants. Although he was a rotational piece of their strong defensive line, Jay was responsible for one of the most famous sacks in Super Bowl History. In Super Bowl XLII, Jay sacked Tom Brady with less than one minute remaining in the game to help seal the shocking upset of the undefeated New England Patriots! Jay played in all 16 games again with the Giants in 2008 and continued to be a key depth piece of their defense. He retired in 2013 from the NFL.
