PLAYER PROFILE:
Jalen Tolbert is a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League. Jalen was born in Mobile, Alabama, and played baseball, basketball, and football growing up. In high school, he attended McGill-Toolen Catholic High School, where he starred in all three sports. Jalen didn't become serious about football until his Senior year, when he started getting noticed by college scouts. As a high school Senior, Jalen recorded 37 receptions, 696 yards, and nine touchdowns, which helped get him exposure to some colleges. Although, he was rated just a 2-star recruit coming out of high school, he still earned a full scholarship to the University of South Alabama. Jalen would redshirt as a freshman in college before becoming a full-time starter as a sophomore. He recorded 6 touchdowns as a sophomore, but really broke out during his Junior year at South Alabama. During his Junior season, Jalen recorded 64 receptions for 1,085 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was also named as a first-team all-Sun Belt Selection as a Junior. He followed-up his tremendous Junior year with an even better season as a Senior. He recorded 82 receptions for 1,474 yards and 8 touchdowns in his final collegiate season and was named the 2021 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the year! After graduation in the Winter of 2022 at South Alabama, Jalen declared for the 2022 NFL Draft and was selected in the third round (88th overall) by the Dallas Cowboys! As a Rookie, Jalen played in 8 games primarily as a special teams' player but did record 2 receptions for 12 yards. He followed that up by having a strong sophomore season in 2023. He played in all 17 games in his sophomore season and recorded 22 receptions for 268 yards and 2 touchdowns in helping the Cowboys with the NFC East Title!
