Dean Lowry Player Profile

PLAYER PROFILE:

Dean Lowry is a defensive lineman for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League. Dean attended high school in Illinois and quickly became the team's best defensive player. He would become a 4-year starter in high school and also excelled in the classroom. He was also named an All-State Selection by the Chicago Tribune as a Senior. After high school, Dean elected to play for his hometown school, Northwestern University. As a freshman at Northwestern, Dean played in all 13 games for the Wildcats, but was mostly a back-up defensive tackle. During his sophomore season, Dean made the switch to defensive end, where he started 9 games as a sophomore. He really made strides during his junior season, where he would start every game at defensive end for Northwestern and recorded 41 tackles and 8 tackles for loss. He was named an Honorable mentioned by league coaches and was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team as junior. He followed that season with an even better year as a Senior, where he was named a 2nd Team All-Big Ten Conference selection. After graduating from Northwestern in 2016, Dean declared for the NFL Draft, where he would be selected in the 4th round by the Green Packers. From the start of his pro career, it was obvious that Dean had the durability and toughness to play for a long time. Over the next 7 seasons, he only missed two games for the Packers and recorded 252 tackles and 15.5 sacks. After the 2022 season came to an end, Dean signed a free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings to be a veteran presence along their defensive line. We are extremely excited to welcome Dean Lowry to camp this June! Your chance to meet him and other members of the Minnesota Vikings is June 25-28, 2023 at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul!
