With his sights set on playing in the NFL some day, Wesley S. Sessoms is on the right track. Wesley is another one of Sports International's veteran campers. He has attended the Brad Hoover Football Camp in Charlotte, NC five times and will attend camp with the new headliner, Jonathan Stewart, this summer.  Sessoms says that, "I have learned far more there than I will ever learn here [at home]. This [camp] will be a must for me until I reach the age of not being able to attend."

Wesley continues to improve his skills, develop his performance, all while maintaining his love of the game. What he learned at camp helps him on the field during the regular season. This past season Wesley played on two football teams in North Carolina. Sessoms played for his school team, the Leopards, at Roseboro Salemburg Middle School. In addition, he also played on the Carolina Force, an AIFA Junior League Indoor Football team, which won the league's inaugural championship title in 2008 and continues to be a dominating force on the field. Wesley played so well during the season that he was invited to a combine this past April.

It's the quality of the staff and the high caliber of coaching he receives that keeps Wesley coming back year after year. One of Sessoms' favorite coaches was Coach Isaiah Harris, who traveled all the way from Maryland to coach at the camp. It was people like him that helped Wesley learn new skills and perfect his form on the field. Camp also helped him understand how hard and demanding certain positions can be and what is required do to be successful at them. The camp staff also emphasized the importance of teamwork and respect for coaches and other players which will carry over into life off the field as well.

Another aspect of camp that Wesley enjoys is the camaraderie. He has made many new friends over years and enjoys the time he gets to spend with them at camp. But it's not just his peers he bonds with. "I love to kid around with Mr. Hoover and some of his regular NFL pros that attend every year," said Sessoms. It's a great experience for a child to get to hang out with some of their football idols and learn from them.

Camp also holds a special place in Wesley's heart for another reason, the time he gets to spend with his dad each year through the father volunteer program. "It allows my father and me quality time together that we do not have as much of at home," says Wesley. Father volunteers get to stay in the dorms with their sons, watch them practice and hang out with their sons and their friends when they are off the field. It's an experience that is priceless for a father and son.

Wesley will be back again this upcoming summer to work on his game but he has another dream to go along with wanting to be an NFL player. An idea he picked up from his friend Brad Hoover. "I would like to come back to my home town when I get that far and give back to my community like Mr. Hoover does and give other kids like me the chance to get involved with football that otherwise would not have the opportunity." Sounds like a great plan to me.
