Motivational Speaker, Mentor, And Coach, Brandon Sweeney To Speak At Camp
Thursday, April 25, 2013

Sports International would like to announce that Motivational Speaker, Mentor, and Coach, Brandon Sweeney will be speaking at camp again this summer.  Brandon will be appearing at the Charles Johnson Football Camp in Wingate, NC as well as the Lardarius Webb and Joshua Morgan Football Camp in Westminster, MD.  Brandon will be covering 4 important topics while at camp.

 1) Being prepared

2) Be willing to do the hard things

3) Be a teammate first before trying to be the MVP

4) Be more than an athlete

Brandon Sweeney has spent most of his young years playing the game he grew to love. Born 29 years ago in Akron, Ohio, he joined a peewee league at the age of eight. As he moved from Stewart Elementary to Perkins Middle and later to Firestone High School, his talent became evident to many. With his goal set to play professionally, he then played two years at Clarion University but later transferred to North Carolina A&T State University. During his senior year in college, he was injured in a scrimmage and lost a kidney in 2006, his aspirations were crushed. Nevertheless, Sweeney didn't let that keep him down. He came back from missing his entire senior year from surgery to finish what he started, and that was getting his college degree.  He graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management. After graduation Sweeney was frustrated and felt like he didn't know who he was or his purpose in life.  Sweeney went on a journey and eventually discovered that he was more than just an athlete and that he had other gifts and talents that he could use to be successful.   He is now pursuing a Masters in Sports and Exercise Psychology at Argosy University.

Sweeney is an author of "Loving The Game When The Game Doesn't Love You Back." His book exposes hidden truths about the pressures faced by athletes on a journey to play professionally. The book presents a behind the scenes look at the importance of preparing athletes for life on and off the playing surface.  The new revision of the book will be out this June of 2013.

Sweeney is also the Founder and President of Purpose Beyond the Game, an organization geared towards challenging, and motivating athletes to become better in every area of their lives, to discover who they are, and to live a purposeful life beyond sports. Sweeney plans to accomplish his mission by speaking, mentoring, coaching, consulting, writing books, and creating material for athletes, parents and coaches. Brandon is married to Ashantae Sweeney with their new son on the way. They currently reside in Greensboro, NC.
